Greyhound Racing BLUFFS $60,000 FALL FUTURITY WINNER

A little luck at the right time doesn't hurt.

But don't be confused, B's Oscar Wild took the lead going into the far turn of the $60,000 Fall Futurity at Bluffs Run Saturday afternoon. Coming into the homestretch, Wild was ahead of the field by 1 1/2 lengths.

Behind Wild was a collection of challengers. But Pridenjoy and Bow Cominaround bumped each other. A couple of steps behind the pair, Hilan Dodge, Apollo Won and Kansas Factor bumped.

All that bumping gave B's Oscar Wild the extra edge he needed to cruise home by three lengths for the win.

"We'll take it any way we can get it," Don Conatser, the trainer for the Rick Bartley Kennel and B's Oscar Wild.

The big concern in the homestretch was Survivor Series champion Pridenjoy.

"Oscar Wild has good finish," said Conatser, "but you can never tell if Pridenjoy had had a clean shot."

Don't take anything away from B's Oscar Wild. He came away from an average break from the four box and some tight racing in the first turn to take up the chase of Kansas Factor in the backstretch.

Kansas Factor broke on top from the three box and led until the end of the backstretch.

"Getting the four box didn't matter for Oscar Wild," said Conatser. "His keys were a good enough break and getting clear through the first turn."

B's Oscar Wild, Pridenjoy and Ka nsas Factor battled through the far turn for the lead with Wild taking charge.

That left the rest to fight for the runner-up honors.

Pridenjoy (River Bluffs Kennel) shook off the bumping to finish second.

Hilan Dodge (Harlan Brothers Kennel) did a terrific job with traffic problems both early and late in coming on to take third, four lengths back. Dodge just edged Tj's Eastwood (Keeper-Red Rock Kennel) by two-tenths of a second.

Bow Cominaround (Neal Blake Kennel), who had led the finalists by winning in all four qualifying rounds, was never on the lead and finished fifth, 5 1/2 lengths back.

Apollo Won (Plum Creek), Kansas Factor (River Bluffs Kennel) and Rj's Hansolo (Woodall Kennel) completed the finished order.
