    Greyhound Racing June 24, quarterfinals of the $60,000 Juvenile Stakes at Bluffs Run

    After the Wednesday, June 24, quarterfinals of the $60,000 Juvenile Stakes at Bluffs Run, no greyhound is perfect but three appear ready to advance to the championship race.

    Bocís Executive (Boeckenstedt Kennel) and the Bartley Corporationís duo of Barts Bold Ruler and Thatswhereits At are tied for the points lead with 40. Traditionally at Bluffs Run a greyhound earning 40 points in the qualifying races earns a box in the championship race of a stakes.

    Bocís Executive, 27-11-5-2, had won two straight, but, despite a nice rally, he found himself running second to Barts Bold Ruler, 29-11-6-2, in the fourth race of the day, the third of the quarterfinal tests.

    Bold Ruler went box-to-wire from the three box to win by six lengths. The six lengths was the biggest margin of victory in the quarterfinals and his time for the 5-16 mile course of 30.14 seconds was the fastest in the quarterfinals.

    Thatswhereits At, 28-6-6-4, won the final quarterfinal of the day. He broke eighth and rallied from sixth in the first turn to finally with by a head at the wire.

    Two greyhounds posted wins to jump into the thick of the points chase with 36 apiece.

    Evolvingsituajhn (Plum Creek), 16-5-3-2, broke seventh and rallied from third in the far turn to win by two and a half lengths.

    XK Bone Crusher (Keeper-Red Rock), 27-7-2-4, chased Go Bon Kelseyann (Hardison) throughout before slipping past to win by a nose.

    Sitting at 35 points is the only greyhound among the top eight without two wins in the three rounds. Sweet Cheeses (Filipelli/Miner), 21-6-4-2, picked up his second second-place to go with a win.

    Second round co-leader Blink It (Black), 15-5-2-1, was the only leader to have trouble in the quarterfinal. Second early on, he faded to fifth, the four points earned gives him 34.

    Half Way There (Black), 18-7-3-1, is three-fourth of the way there. A one and a half length lead gives him 31 points, a last-place finish separating two wins.

    At the other end of the points, 19 was the cutoff for the semifinals. Two greyhounds, Barts Kicknashes (Bartley Corporation) and XK Xtraordinare (Keeper-Red Rock) advanced because their 19 points were made up of a second and a third. The other three greyhoundsí 19 were made up of a second and a fourth, eliminating them.

    Among the kennels, eight of the 14 at Bluffs Run have semifinalists. Keeper-Red Rock leads with eight. The Bartley Corporation is next with four while Boeckenstedt and Black have three each.

    For the Saturday, June 27, three semifinal races, eight of the 24 greyhounds have earned 24 or less points, making their chances for reaching the final probably slim. Past history has suggested that six or seven of the top eight after the quarterfinals have moved on into the final.

    Here is a list of the semifinalists (with kennels) and points earned:

    Bocís Executive (Boeckenstedt) 40; Barts Bold Ruler (Bartley Corporation) 40; Thatswhereits At (Bartley) 40; Evolvingsituajhn (Plum Creek) 36; XK Bone Crusher (Keeper-Red Rock) 36; Sweet Cheeses (Filipelli/Miner) 35; Blink It (Black) 34; Half Way There (Black) 31; XKT Jim Thurber (Keeper-Red Rock) 29; Xkt Todd Hoffman (Keeper-Red Rock) 29; Barts Trump Card (Bartley) 28; RJís Pelee (Keeper-Red Rock) 28; Star From Heaven (Keeper-Red Rock) 27; Bocís Redneck (Boeckenstedt) 26; Keeper Ispent It (Keeper-Red Rock) 25; Varoom Camren (Filipelli/Miner) 25;
