JERRY ALDERSON, 72 Passed away in St Pete FL.

Jerry has been involved in the industry his whole life.

All I Know at this time is that the funeral will be in St. Pete Saturday Morning.

I will post more as it becomes available.

I did find this article in a St Pete newspaper that tell a little bit about his life.

You will have to cut and paste but here it is. http://www.tampabay.com/sports/parimutuels/as-derby-lane-marks-85th-anniversary-alderson-family-always-present/1062571

For some reason the cyt and paste won't work right. Working on it. However I cut and pasted to GOOGLE and the article came up.

Former NGA member Jerry Alderson of Clearwater, Fl., son of the late Hall Of Famer G.A. "Sonny" Alderson, passed away on Feb. 1. He was 72.

Mr. Alderson was involved in the greyhound industry for many years in various aspects of the sport. Numerous photos and stories of Jerry and his racing activities, especially as a kennel operator and trainer, appeared in greyhound racing publications, particularly in the 1960s-'80s.

Vera Rasnake of Derby Lane announced on Wednesday that she'd spoken with Jerry's widow, Annette, who "shared some of her wonderful memories and wanted the greyhound community to know that she, Jerry and their children have many fond memories of all their friends that made the kennel years enjoyable at Geneva Lakes, Dubuque, Southland, Bluffs Run and Derby Lane.

"After many years on the training side Jerry moved to the trackside and recently retired from the Mutuel Department at Derby Lane," Vera noted.

Mr. Alderson also served in the U.S. Army and National Guard

Besides his wife of 38 years (Annette), Mr. Alderson is survived by sons Nathan and Justin (Ashley). Other surviving relatives include siblings, Carolyn (Robert) Rhodes, Barbara Ann (Jim) Blue, and Allan Alderson; his uncle, Hall Of Famer E.J. (Eleanor) Alderson, and Audrey (John) Walcheski.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at R. Lee Williams Funeral Home, 3530 49th St. N., St. Petersburg, Fl. Donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice Care, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, Fl. 33760.
