    Greyhound Racing 2008 ALL AMERICA TEAM

    With an outstanding track record, Hallo Gold Acre was named captain of the AGTOA’s All-America Team, it was announced today, March23, at the AGTOA meeting in Las Vegas.

    Other members of the nation’s top eight include Penny Candy, Starz Jenko, Flying Mancini, NMS Sweet Thing, Kiowa Wish Frank, Soprano Drive and Coldwater Torres.

    The second team consists of the NGA’s Flashy Sir Award winner TK Quick Strike, Red Dirt Road, Boc’s Bullseye, Magic Penny Ante, Kiowa WW Brother, Flying McBeth, Ballymac Flight* and Flupascrackerbox.

    It is the ninth time in history of the team that an NGA award winner did not make the All-America first team.

    Hallo Gold Acre (Hallo West Acre-TM’s Gold Digger) is owned an raced by James O’Donnell, Jr. With 41 wins (48/41-3-1-0) Gold Acre was second in the nation with number of victories, despite taking close to four months off. He won the Mardi Gras Futurity and ran second in two major stake races: the $150,000 Mardi Gras World Classic and the $75,000 Twin River Sprint.

    Penny Candy (Stan’s Boy Flyer-Majestic Angle) is owned by Sharon L. Williams and raced by the D.Q. Williams Kennel at Orange Park. Penny Candy led the nation in victories with 42 (70/42-13-8-5). She ran second in the $50,000 Orange Park Derby and fourth in the $30,000 Patton Marathon.

    Starz Jenko (Kiowa Sweet Trey-Kiowa Like Jill) is owned N.J. Sherck. Jenko won two majors: the $150,000 Mardi Gras World Classic and the $120,000 Grand Classic at Palm Beach. He traveled to Lincoln and made the finals of the $75,000 Twin River Sprint. Starz Jenko also won the NGA’s Rural Rube Award given to the national’s top sprinter.

    Flying Mancini (Kiowa Sweet Trey-Gable Acadia) is owned Vince Berland. Mancini won at races at four different racetracks over several different distances.

    At The Woodlands she won the $25,000 Kansas Bred Sprint and the $20,000 William Grace Memorial Countdown. Mancini ran second in the $75,000 Great American Futurity and the 660-yard Shamrock. She also set the 7/16 Woodland’s track record, 43.22.

    At Wheeling she set the 5/16 track record, 29.34, and qualified for the $100,000 Invitational. She traveled to Twin River and made the finals of the $$115,000 American Derby there. She closed out the year at Derby Lane winning the $75,000 660-Yard Challenge.

    NMS Sweet Thing (Flying Penske-Sobe Lily) is owned by Nichols Meyer & Robert Hume and raced for the River Bluffs Kennel at Bluffs Run.

    Sweet Thing won the $60,000 Bluffs Run Championship and ran second in the $475,000 Iowa Breeders Classic. He also a finalist in the 2008 All-Star Feature.

    Kiowa Wish Frank (Kiowa Sweet Trey-Sol Adara) is owned Smith Greyhounds and raced for the O’Donnell Kennel at Orange Park.

    Frank won the $50,000 Sunshine Stake Silver Cup and was the winner of the Night of Stars XXI Feature.

    Soprano Drive (TNT Star Wars-Essie Ecks Drive) is owned by Tony Mills and raced for the Wayne Strong Kennel at Southland.

    Soprano Drive won three stake races at Southland: the $50,000 Southland Derby, the Kennel Challenge and the Superhound Championship. He also placed fourth in the $150,00 Mardi Gras World Classic.

    Coldwater Torres (WW Time Warp-Hey Bell Dancer) is owned by Oscar Henderson & Georgia Medis and raced for the Gray Kennel at Phoenix.

    Torres won three stake races: $5,000 Leaderboard Stake, $5,000 Sprint and the Phoenix King and Queen. The Phoenix track champ won 33 races, including nine straight.

    TK Quick Strike (Flying Penske-Joanne’s Peach) is owned and raced by the Charter Kennel. Running at Wheeling Island, where he was the track champ with 31 wins, Strike won the $10,000 Mountaineer Classic and the Night of Stars Feature. He also set the Wheeling 3/8 record three times: 37.32, 37.27 and 37.20.

    Red Dirt Road (Ben Awhile-Izz Our Rags) is owned by Margaret Roban Bridges and Dorothy F. Roban and raced for the La Rosa Kennel at Derby Lane. He won the T.L. Weaver Memorial, ran second in the Matinee Idol Feature and third in the $85,000 Sprint Classic. Dirt Road won 35 races at Derby Lane.

    Boc’s Bullseye (WW Time Warp-Makinadash) is owned by Brad Boeckenstedt and Shelly Rangel and raced for the Boeckenstedt Kennel at Bluffs Run. He won the $475,000 Iowa Breeders Classic and was a finalist in the 2008 All-Star Feature.

    Magic Penny Ante (Ben Awhile-Snookered) is owned by Haber Kennels and won races at six different racetrack: Naples-Ft. Myers, Mardi Gras, Twin River, Derby Lane, Tri-State and Wheeling Island.

    Penny Ante won the $115,000 American Derby at Twin River. She ran third in the $50,000 Naples-Ft. Myers Derby. She made the finals of the $75,000 660-Yard Challenge at Derby Lane and the $150,000 Mardi Gras World Classic.

    Kiowa WW Brother (Flying Penske-WW Gale Finance) is owned by Julia Ward and raced for the Ward Kennel at Wheeling Island.

    Brother won the $100,000 Wheeling Invitational, ran second in the $10,000 Holiday Sprint and fourth in the $10,000 Panhandle Sprint. He won 22 of this 48 starts.

    Flying MacBeth (Flying Hydrogen-Fuzzys Blueangle) is owned by Vince Berland and raced for the McAllister Kennel at Derby Lane. He placed in the money in four stake races. He won the $50,000 Fall Sprint, ran third in the $85,000 Sprint Classic, third in the St. Petersburg Derby and fourth in the T.L. Weaver Memorial.

    Ballymac Flight* (Sonic Flight-Ballymac Minnie) is owned and raced by Pat Dalton at Twin River where he set a record for most wins in a year with 34.

    Ballymac Flight* also won the $10,000 Fred Cairone Memorial and was a finalist in the $75,000 Twin River Sprint.

    Flupascrackerbox (Dave The Dog-Pa’s Shawneelass) is owned by David Flora and Team Greyhounds and raced for Team Greyhounds at Southland. He won the Marathon Championship and the Southland Night of Stars Feature. In 2008 he won 14 straight races at Southland.
