The second round of the $60,000 Spring Futurity is complete and the field is now down to 48 greyhounds.

All but one grade A greyhound made the cut. It took 12 points to make it to the Quarter Finals.

The remaining 48 greyhounds are looking to get to the finals and become the 2009 $60,000 Spring Futurity Champion.

After two rounds of the $60,000 Spring Futurity, LS AROD, WIND ENERGY, BARTS CHINA ROSE and SAN TAN MILER are undefeated. There are two more rounds before the finale.

Strong showing by the Bartley Kennel as they run away with four wins during the second round.

BARTS CHINA ROSE out of B’s O’Grady – Barts Clover won his second race in a row during the second round of the $60,000 Spring Futurity. The other three winners for the Bartley kennel HOLLAND GOMER out of Bart’s E Mail – B’s Gail Wind, HOLLAND HANNA out of Barts’ E Mail – Holland Hooter and BARTS ENCORE out of B’s O’s Grady – Barts Freida. All three greyhounds are owned by Rick Bartley.

The Seastrom – Lovely Kennel gets two wins during the second round.
LS AROD out of Kiowa Sweet Trey – Ingenuous has won two races in a row. It couldn’t have come at a better time. Putting together a winning streak during qualifying rounds of the $60,000 Spring Futurity, is perfect timing. She has 23 starts at Bluffs Run and has never raced in grade A. Will she be able to handle the tougher races? LS ARODM is owned by Seastrom Kennels and James Lovely.

LK’S HEARTATTACK just missed getting a win in the first round. The second round out of the #4 post would prove to be an advantage, because the #5 post was empty. This gave LK’S HEARTATTACK a clean break and he was able to take home the win. LK’S HEARTATTACK is owned by Jill Lashmet.

The Harlan Bros. Kennel greyhound WIND ENERGY out of Slatex Striker – Demon Fire, puts together a winning streak during the $60,000 Spring Futurity. He has 33 starts at Bluffs Run and he is very competitive in grade A, running in the money 21 out of 26 starts in grade A. WIND ENERGY is owned by G. Kirk Harlan.

The Plum Creek Kennel greyhound OUT OF NOTHING out of Cayman Went – Rl Mickey Lou, took control out of the far turn and won by 6 lengths. After watching this race you have to ask yourself, how did he weaken a few races ago? With a closing drive like he did during the second round, he could be a greyhound to watch. OUT OF NOTHING is owned by David Robinette.

Saving the Keeper Red Rock Kennel in the last race was SAN TAN MILER out of Pacific Mile* - Tulin Bomber. He pulled out a last race win for the Keeper Red Rock Kennel. San Tan Miler is on a two race win streak and is looking very strong for the Keeper Red Rock Kennel. He battled traffic through out the first half of the race. Once he got out of traffic he sailed home for the win. SAN TAN MILER is owned by Green Smith.

The Boeckenstedt Kennels received two wins in the first round, however they did not manage to put together a win during the second round.

Other action during the second round:
The following kennels had their first win of the $60,000 Spring Futurity, during the second round:
The Petzold Racing, LLC Kennel, with PRS DODGER.
The Wilhite Kennel, with DO THE WAVE
The Bean & Stout Inc. Kennel with GIRL OF FLIRT

The next round will be the Quarter Finals of 48 greyhounds on Wednesday, March 25. Only 24 greyhounds will move on to the Semi-Finals.
