The $475,000 Iowa Breeders Classic is now 23 years old. The Iowa Breeders Classic has run from 1986 to present day, with a combined purse of $5,125,000.00.
This is the richest purse in Iowa history and the richest purse in the country for 2008.

    BOC'S BULLSEYE
    BR Life Earnings: $64,284
    BR Life Stats: 81-22-19-10-7
Brindle, Male, March 2, 2006 (Ww Time Warp - Makinadash)
    Racing for the Boeckenstedt Kennel
    Trained by Ursula O'Donnell
Owned by Brad Boeckenstedt or Shelly Rangel
#1 Post Position Stats: 8 Starts, 5 Wins, 1 Second and 2 out of the money This is the first time the Boeckenstedt Kennel has had a greyhound make the finals in the Iowa Breeders Classic, however this is not the first time that owner Brad Boeckenstedt has had a greyhound in the Iowa Breeders Classic. In fact, in 2005 Mr. Boeckenstedt won the $400,000 Iowa Breeders Classic with Boc's Big League out of the Bob Rider Kennel. When Mr. Boeckenstedt won with Boc's Big League he had the #1 Post Position. If you follow Bluffs Run racing, you know that the #1 post is a favorite. Boc's Bullseye will be looking for his third win in a row.

    CALS THRILLER
    BR Life Earnings: $79,467
    BR Life Stats: 73-27-10-12-2
Black, Male, October 21, 2005 (Gable Dodge - Cals Pair A Dice)
    Racing for the Wilhite Kennel
    Trained by Jeana Wilhite
Owned by Calabro Greyhound Farm, LLC.
#2 Post Position Stats: 9 Starts, 3 Wins, 1 Second, 2 Thirds, 1 Fourth and 2 out of the money
The Wilhite Kennel is no stranger to the Iowa Breeders Classic. In Fact they still hold a record that may never be broken. In 1999 the Wilhite Kennel finished first, second and third in the Iowa Breeders Classic Finals. They also are in the Iowa Breeders Classic Record Book with Be My Bubba. Be My Bubba is one of thirteen greyhounds to have won the Iowa Breeders Classic twice. He has a daughter in this years' final. Cals Thriller could give the race a thrill. Cals Thriller should break on top, however the thrill will be if he can hold on and not fade at the finish line.

    IN RESERVE
    BR Life Earnings: $70,249
    BR Life Stats: 101-24-21-14-12
White Brindle, Male, June 6, 2005 (Oswald Cobblepot - Alaxandria Jo)
Racing for the Plum Creek Kennel
    Trained by Ray Brownlee
    Owned by Mary Robinette
#3 Post Position Stats: 10 Starts, 1 Win, 3 Seconds, 3 Thirds and 3 out of the money In Reserve has the most experience in the race with 101 Bluffs Run Career starts. He will have a few obstacles to overcome: In Reserve has only won out of the #3 post one time. Once he no longer has the lead he gives up. The Plum Creek Kennel is now almost expected to have multiple greyhounds in the finals of stakes races and the Iowa Breeders Classic in no exception. The Plum Creek Kennel is no stranger to the Iowa Breeders Classic. In 2003 the Plum Creek - Paul Paulk Kennel finished first and second in the Iowa Breeders Classic. With three entries in this years' Iowa Breeders Classic, the Plum Creek Kennel has the opportunity to tie the Wilhite Kennel's Record finishing first, second and third. When it comes to the Iowa Breeders Classic, the post position that has won the most (6), has been the #3 post position.

    O YA CHUG ALUG
    BR Life Earnings: $20,537
    BR Life Stats: 18-7-5-1-1
Red, Female, January 16, 2007 (Dodgem By Design - Jasmines Jewel)
Racing for the Blake & Black Kennel
    Trained by Linda Willey
    Owned by Gary Reicherts
#4 Post Position Stats: 1 Starts with 1 Fourth O Ya Chug Alug will have to have her mindset, like the little engine that could. She has never won out of the #4 post position. Neal Blake and Clayton Black are no stranger to the Iowa Breeders Classic. In 2004 the Neal Blake Kennel had greyhound RA BLAZER, owned by Clayton Black, win the Iowa Breeders Classic. O Ya Chug Alug is one of two females to make the finals of this years' Iowa Breeders Classic.

    NMS SWEET THING

    BR Life Earnings: $115,190
    BR Life Stats: 63-29-14-9-3
Fawn, Male, April 15, 2006 (Flying Penske - Sobe Lily)
Racing for the River Bluffs - Brian Smith Kennel
    Trained by Randy Montgomery
Owned by Nicholas Meyer or Robert Hume
#5 Post Position Stats: 6 Starts, 5 Wins and 1 Second Nms Sweet Thing will be the betting favorite, however if you are looking at stats it will be a different story. There is no doubt that Nms Sweet Thing is an amazing greyhound, however the River Bluffs Kennel has a 22 year old curse to break. In the 22 year history of the Iowa Breeders Classic, no greyhound has ever won out of the #5 post position. You have to go all the way back 22 years to find KERCER that was the betting favorite out of the #5 post position and not win. The River Bluffs Kennel is no stranger to the Iowa Breeders Classic; they have won the Iowa Breeders Classic twice; 1997 and 1995. With Nms Sweet Thing licking his chops for an Iowa Breeders Classic win, the River Bluffs Kennel could tie the Mickim Kennel in the Iowa Breeders Classic Record Book with three Iowa Breeders Classic wins.

    KOLBY CAN
    BR Life Earnings: $78,986
    BR Life Stats: 94-24-20-10-10
Fawn, Male, April 8, 2005 (Kiowa Sweet Trey - Kaylee Bob)
    Racing for the Wilhite Kennel
    Trained by Jeana Wilhite
Owned by Kenneth or Gary LeFebvre
#6 Post Position Stats: 11 Starts, 3 Wins, 3 Seconds and 5 out of the money Kolby Can just made it into the finals of the Iowa Breeders Classic finals, with his win by a nose in the quarterfinals. One thing that stands out about Kolby Can is his consistence from 2007 to 2008. Kolby Can will be a long shot and will need a ton of help if he is going to win.

    SETTING SAIL
    BR Life Earnings: $18,431
    BR Life Stats: 23-8-3-3-3
White Red, Female, December 24, 2006 (Be My Bubba - Up N Coming Idol)
Racing for the Plum Creek Kennel
    Trained by Ray Brownlee
    Owned by David Robinette
#7 Post Position Stats: 5 Starts, 2 Wins, 1 Second and 2 out of the money Setting Sail is the daughter of two-time Iowa Breeders Classic Champion, BE MY BUBBA. Just looking at her muscle tone, she looks a lot like BE MY BUBBA. She is the lightest greyhound in the finals. If she can get around clean she could be sailing to the finishing line.

    JACK BE GOOD
    BR Life Earnings: $16,710
    BR Life Stats: 17-6-5-4-0
Dark Brindle, Male, October 11, 2006 (Elway Drive - D's Bye Bye Baby)
Racing for the Plum Creek Kennel
    Trained by Ray Brownlee
    Owned by David Robinette
#8 Post Position Stats: 1 Start with 1 Third Jack Be Good sure knows how to strike a pose. In the semi-finals Jack Be Good raced against a very tough field out of the same post position, however he finished third. He is the most inexperienced in the race.
This race will run on Saturday November 1st, and will the 5th race on the Night of Stars.
