Quarter-Finals of the $60,000 Horseshoe Challenge
    by Mark Pendgraft 4/30/08

On a bright and sunny day with temps finally feeling like Spring instead of Winter. The Quarter-Finals for the $60,000 Horseshoe Challenge is complete and the field of 24 will race in the Semi-Finals on Saturday May 3.

Saturday May 3, Bluffs Run will move it’s post time to 1:00pm (cst).

To make the finals of the $60,000 Horseshoe Challenge, it should take about 38 points.

Barts Paradox has won back to back races. In the first three rounds of the $60,000 Horseshoe Challenge, his worst finish was a second. So with two wins and a second he should be a lock to make the finals. Barts Paradox is out of Gable Dodge and Barts Chillpill, racing for the Bartley Corporation Kennel, owned by Rick Bartley and trained by Don Conatser. Barts Paradox currently has 40 points.

Bow Laidthelaw broke out of the starting box seventh and never improved. He has two wins, but will still need to run a good race in the Semi-Finals on Saturday to make the Finals. Bow Laidthelaw currently has 32 points.

All-American Kj’s Yukon Gold had the hottest post position at Bluffs Run the #1 post. He broke on top and looked like he did last year. However he was the oldest in the field and Barts Paradox took over by the tote board. All-American Kj’s Yukon Gold is not out of it, he will need to finish first or second in the Semi-Finals on Saturday to make the Finals. Kj’s Yukon Gold currently has 28 points.

$60,000 Spring Futurity Champion Slatex Deal looks to be in the same situation at All-American Kj’s Yukon Gold, needing to finish first or second in the Semi-Finals to make the Finals. Slatex Deal currently has 29 points.

Barts Dragon finally raced out of different post. Out of the #5 post he did not break on top but by the time the race hit the tote board he came flying through the field to take the lead. This is the second race that Barts Dragon has won, during the $60,000 Horseshoe Challenge. Barts Dragon currently has 38 points.

Colorado Chris got a much needed win during the Quarter-Final round, winning by a mile, but he will need another stellar performance during the Semi-Finals. Not to take anything away from Colorado Chris, but Universal Raves out of the #6 post does not know the meaning of a clean race. Hot Rod kennel mate to Universal Raves was caught in the middle of Universal Raves mess. Colorado Chris currently has 29 points.

Doubt Free has left little doubt about being a contender in the$60,000 Horseshoe Challenge. She has put together back to back wins and will just have to run in the money during the Semi-Finals to make the Finals. Doubt Free currently has 36 points.

Top Eight Greyhounds going into the Semi-Finals:
    Barts Paradox – 40 points
    Barts Dragon – 38 points
    Doubt Free – 36 points
    Hna Prioritymale – 33 points
    Kolby Can – 33 points
    Bow Laidthelaw – 32 points
    Rookie Mcqueen – 31 points
    Bringingittolife – 29 points
