    Greyhound Racing TAPCO KARALEXIS

I heard today that TAPCO KARALEXIS owned by Luetta Rider had made the finals of THE FALL FUTURITY @ THE WOODLANDS. I never had time to do my home work and write an article . So I called my old buddy Bob and asked him to email me something. So Bob wrote the following. Thanks Bob!

My wife has a kennel at Dubuque and last spring before I headed for the 2007 NGA Spring Nationals.
She decided to try and buy a couple of pups to try and win the $45,000 Future Star race at Dubuque. Now she never was to smart, because she married me, and she thinks I have a pretty good eye buying a dog, so she left me in charge of the buying. I saw a bunch that I liked, but the spring auction was one of the highest I remember and someone else liked most of them more than me as I seemed to be next to last bidder on quite a few. I stayed for Saturdays auction to try and buy Tapco Karalexis, he hadn't looked all that good at the nationals, (a 3rd & a 1st) I tried to buy him Friday night from his owners Tom and Bret Taplin but they said no he was in the auction. Finally Saturday I was last bid on Git N Stormy, a female that had showed a ton of bottum
in both her races. Tapco Karalexis came into the sale ring and darn someone else also liked him, I went $2,000 more than I had planed to spend on him but there was only a few that were left that I still liked. Steve Ward had ran him through the nations for the Taplins and he told me he had a entry for the Fall Futurity and he thought he was good enough to split his entry on if I was interested. We shook hands and that was the deal (nothing in writing, just a hand shake). We broke him in at Dubuque, he did good but nothing great 20 - 6/4/3/3 and went to grade A in the second round of the Future Stars qualifing rounds and won the last two. In the final as most know he ran 3rd behind his two kennel mates, Git N Stormy & Rido's Isabel. The next day I headed to The Woodlands to give him to Trainer Amy Kappel of the Steve Ward Kennel. He had 3 grade A starts at Kansas City before the Fall Futurity started and ran 2 seconds and a 5th. Trainer Amy Kappel had him flying in the first round, he went off as a long shot at $30.10 and won in 30.15 by 5. In the 2nd round he went off at $5.80 and won by 3 in 30.05 the fastest time of the card. The third and final round he was the favorite at $2.50 and ran 4th, but was still the high point dog going
into the final, Friday night. His record at The Woodlands is now 6 - 2/2/0/1.
