The livestock inspectors for the Horse and Dog Breeding Program are now on their 10 ten hour work days Monday-Thursday. Friday is a day off for them and they will not be inspectiong on Fridays through day-light savings time. They will start back on a full week inspections on October 22, 2004.

There have been some concerns about getting dog registrations and dog dam reports back and into the office on time. May I make these suggestions, please send in your dam reports at the time of breeding your dog, we must receive them 10 days before welping, but if they come into us 30 days ahead of time that's OK, it gives the office time to process the paper work and the inspectors time to check your dogs in a more timely fashion. A copy of the dam's papers must come to our office without being stamped, and in the owners name.
As for the certificates getting stamped and sent to the NGA and back to our office, that takes extra time. There are more dogs in the Iowa Program than ever before, and getting the paper work processed and back to the track or to your trainer. I would suggest that you send your application and onion skins in at six months of age, or shortley after being inspected. That way you would have every thing ready well before the dog is ready to run.

Good luck at the races this year.
