The $60,000 Spring Futurity final 8 field is set for Saturday, April 7. To be successful in the Spring Futurity you must have many talents, one of which is the ability to run in slow and fast track conditions caused by severe weather.
Saturday, April 31 once again severe weather hit Bluffs Run before the start of the racing performance. The rain started to fall before first race post time and continued to fall doing the Semi-Finals. This made for a muddy, slow track.
A muddy track with spots of standing water the track was in poor condition, however this is the way mother nature wanted it for the Semi-Finals.

KEEPER CAICOS (Kiowa Sweet Trey – Cyber Alice) broke on top and rail along the rail. In normal track conditions the rail is the place you want to run at Bluffs Run, however in this mess the rail is not the best place to run. Keeper Caicos kept along the rail out in front all the way into the far turn and from way back COLORADO CHRIS (Kiowa Sweet Trey – Little Buns) came charging from mid-track. The finish line was quickly approaching and with every stride Colorado Chris closed in on Keeper Caicos. Within 20 yards from the finish, Colorado Chris took the lead from Keeper Caicos. This was the second win for Colorado Chris during the qualifying rounds. With this win he barely made it into the finals with 37 points. BE NOT NOBODY (Em’s Mack Attack – Corbinsluckylady) had a troubled race finishing fifth, but even with his fifth place finish he is co-point leader with 44 points.
KJ’S YUKON GOLD (Trojan Cruze – Lady Schia) struck gold! He broke towards the rail, pushing his way into the #1- #4 post. Kj’s Yukon Gold remained on top going into the far turn and as BOW SPOTLITE (Clappin Thunder – Bow Tidbits) faded out of the race, SKY LEGEND (Trojan Cruze – Kiowa Morley BB) tried making a charge at Kj’s Yukon Gold but Gold was too far out in front. This was Kj’s Yukon Gold’s first win during the qualifying round and it was not enough for him to make the finals. Sky Legend secured his position into the finals with his second place finish, he had a total of 43 points.
WILBUR WHO (Flying Penske – Nature’s Way) somehow won again. He is trying to make a name for himself and he started at the right time. Wilbur Who broke on top and he stayed on top going into the far turn. When it looked like NEW CHAPTER (Flare Gun – Future Bride) started to make his move he was tripped up by the stumbling BEER RUN R U IN (Em’s Mac Attack – Corbinsluckylady). From that moment on, it was an easy win for Wilbur Who. BARTS KODA (B’s Royal Tim – Barts Kalo) took advantage of the trip up in the far turn to finish second. With his second place finish he finished as co-point leader with 44 points.
