    Greyhound Racing ALL-AMERICA TEAM ANOUNCED

    BLUFFS HAS TWO NAMED TO THE SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICA TEAM.

    EA's Itzaboy captains All-America team

    The NGA’s Rural Rube Award winner EA’s Itzaboy was named captain of the AGTOA’s All-America Team for 2003, the AGTOA announced today (March 29). Other members include Cayman Went, the NGA’s Flashy Sir Award winner Burt Road, Coldwater Konow, Lawa Leonas Best, WW Apple Jax, Be Discrete and Rooftop Moby. The AGTOA announced the team at its annual meeting in late March.

    The AGTOA also announced a second team which includes: Ben Awhile, My Zapper, Shadow Ofa Doubt, Rysta, Just Kickin It, RR Salty Dawg, DV’s Midnight and WW Unjinx Me.

    EA’s Itzaboy (Oswald Cobblepot-San Tan Bomber), owned and raced by Fred Fulchino, won the $75,000 Hollywood World Classic, the $70,000 Seabrook Great Race, the $20,000 Rhode Island Food Bank Medley, the $25,000 New Hampshire Lottery Invitational, the Belmont Stake Feature at Lincoln and the Lincoln Inaugural. He also set the Hollywood track record, 29.88, and ran fourth in the $75,000 Commissioners Cup at Wheeling Downs.

    Itzaboy was named to the 2002 All-America team as well, winning the West Virginia Commissioner's Cup, the New Hampshire Lottery Sprint and the Lincoln Countdown.

    Cayman Went (Snow Bow-Faithful Message), owned by Green Turtle Cay Greyhounds and raced by Bahama Mama Greyhounds, won the Tampa Speed Classic and the Tampa Derby. He also won the Matinee Idol Feature and ran second in the $85,000 Sprint Classic at Derby Lane. Cayman Went had over 30 top grade wins at Tampa/St. Pete, 17 over the sprint course and 14 at the 3/8 distance.

    Burt Road (Oswald Cobblepot-Waterford), owned and raced by Melvin Langford, was the nation’s winningest Greyhound for the year with 57. He also won the Orange Park Night of Stars Feature and ran third in the Orange Park Derby. Over the 5/16 course he ran third in the Clay County Classic and qualified for the $35,000 Mayor’s Cup.

    Coldwater Konow (Oswald Cobblepot-Coldwater Cia) was recently syndicated by the Coldwater Konow Syndicated, LLC and raced at Phoenix by the Gray Kennel. He won the $2,500 Streak Stake, Sprint Championship and the $5,000 Sprint Countdown. He also set the Phoenix 5/16 record, 29.78, and the 3/16 record, 17.37.

    Jawa Leonas Best (Gable Dodge-ML Foxy Move), owned by James Sutton a nd Walter Schram, Jr., and raced by the Davidson Kennel at Palm Beach, became the first Greyhound in the track’s history to win all three major stake races: the $50,000 James Paul Derby, the $25,000 He’s My Man Classic and the $25,000 St. Patrick’s Day Invitational.

    WW Apple Jax (Derby Day*-WW Royalprincess), purchased late in the year by H. Hal Gill and raced by the Wayne Ward Kennel, set the Wheeling Downs 5/16 record and won the track’s Night of Stars Feature. For 2003 he won 19 races at Wheeling in 30 starts and three of his four races at Derby Lane.

    Be Discrete (Wigwam Hoss-Be Insured), owned and raced by Ron Beckner, missed out on the major stake races at Gulf because he was not Texas bred. However, in a New Year’s Eve match race with two-time stake winner Shadow Ofa Doubt, he won the race and Gulf’s track championship with 42 wins, at one time winning a dozen straight. He also won the Gulf Night of Stars feature and the Sheldon Levine Sprint.

    Rooftop Moby (Molotov-Faithful Maid), owned by James Potter and raced by the Marriott Kennel, won the $50,000 Great Kansas Shootout at Wichita and was the leading qualifier in the Hollywood World Classic. He also won two Night of Stars Features, at Derby Lane in the spring and at Tampa in the fall. He was also a finalist in the Derby Lane T. L. Weaver Memorial.

    Like the first team, the second team of All-Americans is comprised of males only.

    Ben Awhile (Greys Statesman-Bistro Queen), owned by George Adler and raced by LaRosa Enterprises, won the $85,000 Derby Lane Sprint Classic and the Derby Lane Irish Greyhound Board Feature. He also ran second in the Tampa Speed Classic and the Derby Lane All-Star Kennel Preview.

    My Zapper (San Tan Savage-My Scarlet O), owned by Laveda Woodall and raced by the Woodall Kennel, won the Bluffs Run Derby and ran second in the Survival Series Countdown. He was the Bluffs Run track champ with 30 wins.

    Shadow Ofa Doubt (Oshkosh Slammer-Sheso Irish), owned by Sharon Wray Kelly and raced by the LQK Kennel, won the $60,000 TGA Round-Up and the $24,000 Texas Fall Classic. Shadow won over 30 races at Gulf, including a streak of 10.

    Rysta (Tuffolo-Jessamyn Lee), owned and raced by W.H. O’Donnell, won the $20,000 Food Bank Medley and a Night of Stars Feature at Lincoln Park. Rysta also set both the 5/16 track record, 29.69, and the 3/8 record, 36.81. Additionally he ran second in the $20,000 American Derby.

    Just Kickin It (Wigwam Hoss-Getum Miss Eva), owned by Sharon Williams and raced by the D. Q. Williams Kennel, won the $35,000 Mayor’s Cup and was a finalist in the Clay County Classic on the Jacksonville circuit, where he won 36 top grade races.

    RR Salty Dawg (Molotov-Beyond Stardom), owned by David Robinette and raced by the Plum Creek Kennel, set a new record for the most money won in a single race when he won the $400,000 Iowa Breeders Cup at Bluffs Run. Salty Dawg won $190,772 in purses for the win.

    DV’s Midnight (Mankato-Bushnell Beauty), owned by Danny Viles and raced by the Davidson Kennel, won the Father’s Day and Night of Stars Features at Palm Beach. He also won 40 top grade races.

    WW Unjinx Me (WW Time Warp-Kiowa Mint), recently purchased by Julia Ward and Strickland sires and was raced last year by Wayne Ward, won the $50,000 Kansas Bred Sprint at the Woodlands and ran second in the $75,000 Hollywood World Cassic. He also ran fourth in the Derby Lane Sprint Classic.
